Democratic Committee Meeting

Monday, March 15, 2010

7 p.m. on March 16

Amherst board members are slated to meet at 7 p.m. on March 16 at the Amherst Education Center, 219 Trojan Lane.      The board also will hold a public forum to discuss budget issues at 5 p.m. at the same location.

Supervisors Claudia Tucker and Frank Campbell have drafted a resolution to have former Amherst County Attorney Vaden Hunt reinstated, the agenda for the county’s meeting set for Tuesday states.

Take the time to support good government and attend this meeting and support this resolution.     You can help put the Board of Supervisors back on the high road by demanding they right this wrong.      Adams, Kidd and Vandall will not adhere to ethical conduct until forced to do so.

The resolution cites both the county’s current budget woes and the public’s recent criticism of the board’s decision to terminate Hunt as reasons to reinstate him.

The resolution also mentions that Hunt did not receive a performance evaluation during his employment and “has worked the last two years without a contract.”

The board voted to terminate Hunt’s employment in a 3-2 vote at a regular scheduled meeting on March 2.

Tucker and Campbell voted against Hunt’s termination.     Chairman Chris Adams, Vice Chairman Don Kidd and Supervisor Ray Vandall voted for the move.

Amherst board members are slated to meet at 7 p.m. on March 16 at the Amherst Education Center, 219 Trojan Lane.     This is next to Monelison School and is behind 84 lumber.     It is where you go to vote if you live in Madison Heights.     You can also get to Trojan Lane by turning down the road by Wal* Mart.     The board also will hold a public forum to discuss budget issues at 5 p.m. at the same location.     If at all possible, Please Attend.
