Burt Dodson Makes It Official, The Race is On

Michael Doucette Introduces Bert Dodson

Michael R. Doucette. Commonwealth's Attorney. City of Lynchburg, Virginia did the honors of intoducing Bert Dodson to the crowd of over a hundred supporters that had gathered in front of the old Courthouse in downtown Lynchburg.     The crowd was loaded with dignitaries like Mayor Joan Foster and the Democratic Chairs from sourrounding counties and other areas of Virginia's newly created 22nd District.

David Burford the Chair of the Amherst County Democrats, Ora McCoy the Chair of the Appomattox County Democrats, Carter Elliott the Chair of the Campbell County Democrats and Gerald Cheatham the First Vice Chair of the Lynchburg Democrats were among the crowd of Burt Dodson supporters.
Campbell County Democratic Chair Carter Elliott and Amherst County Democratic Chair David Burford chat about the upcoming race.
The crowd is ready and bursts into wild applause as Bert Dodson is introduced.       The above shot is only moments before Bert takes the podium.

When introduced by Michael Doucette the crowd amps up the noise and excitement level.     Bert stops momentarily to shake hands with Doucette as he is leaving the podium and then drenched in cheers moves quickly to the podium and waves to the crowd.     The  "Elect Bert Dodson"  signs are waving in the gentle breeze of the hot June afternoon and finally the crowd settles down as Bert begins to speak.      The crowd was spread up and down the sidewalk in front of the old Courthouse so as not to intefere with the traffic moving slowly up and down the street.
Bert delivered a 14 minute speech that stretched to 20 minutes due to frequent outbursts of applause from an appreciative audience who is very much interested in electing Bert Dodson as the First Senator from Virginia's new 22nd District.     It has been so long since we have had good representation in Richmond that this chance for our area to be remembered when the funds are distributed is truely exciting.     Bert Dodson will protect our area from being left out, left behind and completely forgotten.      That is the kind of change we can stand up for.

Is there some reason for these last two photos?      Yes there is.      This isn't just Burt's race,  it is our race also and it must be won.      I can promise you Bert Dodson will do his part and more.      Burt will work his heart out.      Now we must make a bond with Bert that we will also work.      That we will pound the pavement and shake a few hands and help tell the story of a good man we want to become our Senator and represent us in Richmond.     At the very least we must be registered and vote.     We must make our voices heard.      If we try we can make it happen.     We can make our lots in life better, if we try.      Will you join us and try?       The Amherst County Democrats meet the second tuesday of each month at the Madison Heights Library.      Meetings start at 7pm and the doors open at 6:30pm.      Everyone is welcomed.     Bring with you a desire to make your life better.      Our next meeting is June 14th.     If you live in another county contact the Democratic Committee in that county and get involved.     Life Needs You.
Bert's Mom and Bert's Wife
Two of the best Burt Dodson supporters are his Wife and Mother and here's a great photo of them.   Burt's Mom wanted a couple of signs to keep as a memory of the day and we got them to her.    Jokingly I told her she should have Bert sign them and then frame them.    Here's the thing that makes Moms great.   She told me she had saved literature from Bert's earlier campaigns for keepsakes.    I asked her if she could adjust to calling Bert Senator and she said she'd have no problems with it.     Her one concern was the size of the 22nd and the great amount of driving it would require to meet everyone.    What a wonderful bunch of ladies to chat with.
Bert Dodson being interviewed by Ray Reed
Ray Reed is one of the top Political Reporters in the State and well known up and down the east coast.      If its happening in the world of politics Ray is  "on it".     Ray works for the Lynchburg News.     At  ACVDN  we predict Ray Reed will be assisting many news outlets across the Nation as the Bert Dodson race gets elevated to bell-weather status by the top media outlets and his expertise is needed for the local color of the 22nd district.
The American Dream is fueled by Good Government.       Support and Vote for Bert Dodson.

NEXT MEETING

June 14th at 7pm at the Madison Heights Library our Special Guest will be Dr. Andrew Boyd Schmookler. The doors open at 6:30 and there is plenty of free parking.     Everyone is invited.

Dr. Andrew Bard Schmookler, 65, is vying for the 6th District Democratic nomination in May to run against Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte in 2012.

Dr. Schmookler is a writer living in Shenandoah County ,two miles from West Virginia near Orkney Springs. He spends time writing a blog at nonsoblind.org. He is married with three children.

“I feel that what I’m fighting for is the soul of America. …It is a grave crisis this country now faces,” says Dr. Schmookler.

He is using friends for his campaign staff and admits that  “There’s no way I’m going to match [the funds] that the incumbent can raise.”      He’ll get his message out hoping to level the playing field and making  “David’s slingshot a match for his [Goodlatte] Goliath’s sword.”

He said his campaign is  “deeply committed to truthfulness” something he believes is lacking in politics today.     He says he is not a generic Democrat.     He has an  “unusual and powerful message.”

“The country is acting like it is degrading it.”     His campaign theme reflects his message – “Let’s talk about the elephant in the room – It is a crisis, an emergency.”      Schmookler said he feels “duty bound to do everything that’s in my power to protect the country from going down the tubes.”normal politics when forces that we’re not confronting actually are

He plans to bring out Goodlatte’s untruths about telling constituents he’s on their side when he is not.     Schmookler called Goodlatte  “a loyal foot soldier of the Republican army.”

Schmookler is running as a Democrat because he believes that the “Democratic Party is the only thing that can possibly protect us from the destructive force that the Republican Party has become.”
