GOP Settles for Romney, Apathy Sky High

Mitt's Money Outlasts Rival's Bank Accounts

The Republican Winner and Number 1 GOP Conservative

Republicans despise Mitt and the reason is simple.   Mitt is a solid gold fake.    Democrats hold different positions on the issues than Republicans and thus the Republicans oppose Democrats.   Republicans know that Democrats have long held values and rarely flip-flop on an issue where as Mitt can go any way the wind blows.   Mitt Romney is a floater who has no center or core.   Which ever group he is speaking to he will pretend to hold their views as life long positions.    Each group and each Republican know Mitt is lying to them and that he will say anything to get elected.   Is it any wonder Republicans are having a hard time supporting this phoney?

14 Bald-Faced Mitt Romney Flip-Flops, Research By John McCain

This comes from the 2008 John McCain campaign's research book on Mitt Romney.   In over 200 painstakingly researched pages, it notes every slip-up, political fib, and potential liability for Romney going forward.

And of course it picks apart all the times Romney has said one thing, and then when the political winds changed, said something else.

#1 On Immigration - For A Path To Citizenship, Then Against

FLIP :  “Gov. Mitt Romney expressed support ... for an immigration program that places large numbers of illegal residents on the path toward citizenship ... Romney said illegal immigrants should have a chance to obtain citizenship.”  (Evan Lehmann, “Romney Supports Immigration Program, But Not Granting ‘Amnesty’,” The Lowell
Sun, 3/30/06)

FLOP:  “[I] think I’m best off to describe my own positions. And my positions, I think I’ve just described for
you – secure the border, employment verification and no special pathway to citizenship. I feel that’s the course we ought to take.” (CNN’s “The Situation Room,” 5/22/07)

2) On George W. Bush's Tax-Cuts

FLIP: “[R]omney spoke at the 10th annual legislative conference organized by U.S. Rep. Martin T. Meehan (D-Lowell) and met with the Massachusetts delegation. ... Congressional sources said that a point of contention arose when Romney refused to take a position on Bush’s massive, 10-year tax cut plan.” (Noelle Straub, “Romney
Talks Policy With Bush Staffers, Mass. Delegation,” Boston Herald, 4/11/03)

FLOP: "McCain opposed President Bush’s tax cuts, Romney noted. ‘I supported them,’ the former governor said.”
(Lee Bandy, “Romney Targeting McCain,” The State [SC], 2/4/07)

3) Anti-Reagan then, now Pro-Reagan.

FLIP: “I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan- Bush,” Mitt Romney said during a debate with Ted Kennedy

FLOP: "'Ronald Reagan is one of my heroes,' Romney said as he praised Reagan’s strategy for winning the Cold
War: ‘We win; they lose.’” (Michael Levenson, “Romney Links Gay Marriage, US Prestige,” The Boston Globe, 2/26/05)

4) On The National Rifle Association And Gun Laws
FLIP:  “[Romney] said he will take stands that put him at odds with some traditional ultra- conservative
groups, and cited his support for the assault rifle ban and the Brady gun control law. ‘That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA,’ he said. ‘I don’t line up with a lot of special interest groups.’” (Andrew Miga,
“Mitt Rejects Right-Wing Aid,” Boston Herald, 9/23/94)

FLOP:  Romney told a Derry, N.H., audience, ‘I’m after the NRA’s endorsement. I’m not sure they’ll give it to
me. I hope they will. I also joined because if I’m going to ask for their endorsement, they’re going to ask for mine.’” (Glen Johnson, “Romney Calls Himself A Longtime Hunter,” The Associated Press, 4/5/07)

5) On Whether He Even Owns A Gun (This story changed within just a few days)
FLIP:  "I have a gun of my own. I go hunting myself. I’m a member of the NRA and believe firmly in the right to bear arms," Romney said. (Glenn And Helen glennandhelenshow.com, 1/10/07)

FLOP:  "Asked by reporters at the gun show Friday whether he personally owned a gun, Romney said he did not. He said one of his sons, Josh, keeps two guns at the family vacation home in Utah, and he uses them ‘from time to time.’” (Scott Helman, “Romney Retreats On Gun Control,” The Boston Globe, 1/14/07)

6) Is the planet warming? Mitt probably agreed with you at one time or another.

FLIP:  "I think the global warming debate is now pretty much over and people recognize the need associated with providing sources which do not generate the heat that is currently provided by fossil fuels ...” (Jack Coleman, “Massachusetts Governor Urges Use Of Alternative Energy,” Cape Cod Times, 3/14/03)

“I concur that climate change is beginning to [have an] effect on our natural resources and that now is the time to take action ...”   (“Romney OK With Plan On Emissions,” Boston Herald, 7/24/03)

FLOP:   “I have to tell you with regards to global warming that that’s something, which, you’re right, the scientists haven’t entirely resolved, but no question about one thing, it’s getting warmer, and a lot of good reasons for us to use less energy, to use it more efficiently and to develop sources here in this country that could allow us to be more independent of foreign sources.” (CNBC’s “Kudlow & Company,” 2/7/07)

“Unfortunately, some in the Republican Party are embracing the radical environmental ideas of the liberal left.  As governor, I found that thoughtful environmentalism need not be anti-growth and anti-jobs. But Kyoto-style sweeping mandates, imposed unilaterally in the United States, would kill jobs, depress growth and shift manufacturing to the dirtiest developing nations. Republicans should never abandon pro-growth conservative principles in an effort to embrace the ideas of Al Gore.” (Romney For President, Press Release, 2/23/07)

7) Don't Ask Don't Tell? Don't Ask Mitt Romney

FLIP:   In 1994 “[Romney] called President Bill Clinton’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ military policy ‘the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military.’” (Dan Balz and Shailagh Murray, “Mass. Governor’s Rightward Shift Raises Questions,” The Washington Post, 12/21/06)

FLOP:   “[Romney] defended his policy switch on gays in the military. He said when he first heard the phrase ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ he thought it was ‘kind of a silly phrase that didn’t make a lot of sense.’ But the last 10 years have convinced him that the policy is working and there is no reason to change it, he said.”  (Alexa Aguilar, “Romney Campaigns In Chicago,” Chicago Tribune, 4/12/07)

8) Has your position on same-sex marriage changed? So has Mitt Romney's.

FLIP:  When a 2002 Constitutional Amendment was proposed to ban same-sex marriage, Romney opposed it. “Romney’s family members signed the petition to put it on the ballot ‘without reading the fine print,’ [Romney aide Eric] Fehrnstrom said, but he has no reason to believe they do not support it. ‘Mitt did not know they signed it, and Mitt does not support it,’ he said. ‘As far as Mitt is concerned, it goes farther than current law, and therefore it’s unnecessary.’” (Rick Klein, “Romney Kin Signed Petition To Ban Same-Sex Marriage,” The Boston Globe, 3/22/02)

FLOP:  “Just two weeks before lawmakers resume a Constitutional Convention to vote on a proposed ballot initiative to ban same-sex marriage, Gov. Mitt Romney will stand with the supporters of the measure to call on the Legislature to back it. Romney will join petition backers in a State House press event today to urge the Legislature to pass the Protection of Marriage Amendment when the Constitutional Convention reconvenes July 12, authorizing a 2008 ballot question asking voters to define marriage as between one man and one woman.” (Kimberly Atkins and Kate Gibson, “Mitt Joining Supporters Of Anti-Gay Wed Initiative,” Boston Herald, 6/28/06)

9) On embryonic stem cell research, Romney's still developing a fully-formed position.

FLIP:  “Speaking at a bioethics forum, GOP gubernatorial hopeful Mitt Romney yesterday endorsed embryonic stem cell research ... [Romney] endorsed embryonic stem cell research, saying the controversial science might one day help treat his wife’s multiple sclerosis in addition to numerous other degenerative diseases. ... Romney spoke extensively about his position on stem cell research, which also involves embryo destruction.” (Raja Mishra, “Romney Endorses Stem Cell Research, Is Silent On Cloning,” The Boston Globe, 6/14/02)

FLOP: ...On Feb. 10, 2005 ... Romney came out strongly against the cloning technique ... He vowed to press for legislation to criminalize the work. Romney’s opposition stunned scientists, lawmakers, and observers because of his past statements endorsing, at least in general terms, embryonic stem cell research.” (Scott Helman, “Romney’s Journey To The Right,” The Boston Globe, 12/17/06)

10) Favorite Book?   Well, that depends.

FLIP:   Fox News’ MARTHA MCCALLUM:  And an interesting response to his favorite novel. ROMNEY: “Actually the one by L. Ron Hubbard, I hate to think ... I’m not in favor of his religion by any means, but he wrote a book called ‘Battlefield Earth’ that was a very fun science fiction book.” (Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” 4/30/07)

FLOP   (Maybe just a hedge):  "Asked about his comments during a Fox News interview Monday that L. Ron Hubbard’s 'Battlefield Earth' is his favorite novel, Romney said Huckleberry Finn is his favorite fiction and that the book by Hubbard, who founded Scientology, is his favorite science fiction reading.” (Mary Anne Ostrom, “Education Should Determine Immigrants’ Legal Status, Mitt Romney Says,” The [San Jose, CA] Mercury News, 5/1/07)

11) His Own Health-Care Initiative. He's Not Sure About That Either.

FLIP:   "In a Colonial-era hall, with a fife-and-drum corps marching in with him, Gov. Mitt Romney (R) signed a bill Wednesday requiring all Massachusetts residents to purchase health insurance -- portraying the measure as a historic solution to health-care costs, even as questions emerge about whether the state can afford it. The signing [was] staged with a near-presidential attention to theatrics and slogan-bearing banners...” (David A. Fahrenthold, “Mass. Marks Health-Care Milestone,” The Washington Post, 4/13/06)

FLOP:   "As governor of Massachusetts he signed a bipartisan law intended to ensure that every resident has coverage. Romney touted it as an innovative free-market solution. Yet these days, Romney ... is much more likely to present his state’s universal coverage law as not a model to copy but an example for other states to learn from. He’s now a critic of his own biggest achievement.” (Sean Higgins, “Ex-Gov. Romney Keeps Distance From His Own Mass. Health Plan,” Investor’s Business Daily, 3/7/07)

12) Tax Pledges are beneath Romney, until the presidency was in front of him.

FLIP:   “Four years ago, Mitt Romney broke with GOP tradition and refused to sign the [Americans for Tax Reform] pledge [to ‘oppose and veto any and all efforts to increase taxes’].” (Lisa Wangsness, “Healey Will Sign Antitax Pledge,” The Boston Globe, 9/4/06)

“Romney’s Gubernatorial Campaign Spokesman, Eric Fehrnstrom, Dismissed Such Pledges At The Time As ‘Government By Gimmickry.’” (Scott Helman, “Romney Finds ‘No New Taxes’ Promise Suits Him After All,” The Boston Globe, 1/5/07)

FLOP:   “Almost five years after he refused to sign a ‘no new taxes’ pledge during his campaign for governor, Mitt Romney announced ... that he had done just that, as his campaign for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination began in earnest.” (Scott Helman, “Romney Finds ‘No New Taxes’ Promise Suits Him After All,” The Boston Globe, 1/5/07)

 13) Money in politics? Sometimes its good, sometimes it is bad.

FLIP:   “Romney also said he advocates spending limits on congressional elections, even suggesting that the current race against Sen. Edward M. Kennedy should have a $6 million spending cap.” (Frank Phillips, “Romney, Vowing To Live It, Touts Congress Reform Plan,” The Boston Globe, 7/27/94)

"[Mitt Romney] once touted dramatic restructuring measures such as taxing political contributions and placing spending limits on federal campaigns.” (Alexander Bolton, “Romney’s About-Face On Campaign Funding,” The Hill, 2/8/07)

FLOP:  “Romney noted his foe from Arizona wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform law that restricts certain types of contributions. ‘That’s a terrible piece of legislation,’ Romney said. ‘It hasn’t taken the money out of politics. ... (But) it has hurt my party.’” (Lee Bandy, “Romney Targeting McCain,” The State, 2/4/07)

14) NOW THE BIG ONE: During his 1994 Senate Run, Mitt Romney argued that he was more pro-choice than Ted Kennedy

FLIP:   “When Kennedy called him ‘multiple choice,’ Romney demanded an extra rebuttal. He revealed that a close relative died of an illegal abortion years ago and said, ‘Since that time, my mother and my family have been committed to the belief that we can believe as we want, but we will not force our beliefs on others on that matter, and you will not see me wavering on that.’” (Joan Vennochi, “Romney’s Revolving World,” The Boston Globe, 3/2/06)

“I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it.” (Joan Vennochi, “Romney’s Revolving World,” The Boston Globe, 3/2/06)

When he went to conservative Utah, that tune changed.

FLOP:  “When I am asked if I am pro-choice or pro-life, I say I refuse to accept either label.” (Glen Warchol, “This Is The Place, But Politics May Lead Romneys Elsewhere,” The Salt Lake Tribune, 2/14/99)

But I'm running for office in Massachusetts again, so I'm pro-choice again
FLIP:   “I will preserve and protect a woman’s right to choose, and am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard. I will not change any provisions of Massachusetts’ pro-choice laws.” (2002 Romney-O’Brien Gubernatorial Debate, Suffolk University, Boston, MA, 10/29/02)

In 2002, Romney Offered His Completed NARAL Questionnaire, Filled Out With “Mostly Abortion-Rights Positions,” To The Media Even Before Returning It To NARAL. “Yesterday, Romney also aimed to head off confusion about his stance on abortion rights by answering a Mass National Abortion and Reproductive Rights Action League questionnaire with mostly abortion-rights positions. He offered the questionnaire to the press even before he returned it to MassNARAL...”

Then he started thinking of national office as a Republican, and he happened to have a revelation

FLOP:   "Romney said he had a change of heart on the issue after speaking with a stem-cell researcher, Dr. Douglas Melton. Romney claims Melton said  ‘Look, you don’t have to think about this stem cell research as a moral issue, because we kill the embryos after 14 days.’

‘It hit me very hard that we had so cheapened the value of human life in a Roe v. Wade environment that it was important to stand for the dignity of human life,’ Romney says.” (Karen Tumulty, “What Romney Believes,” Time, 5/21/07)

Mitt Romney is the Biggest Dirtbag I've Ever Run Against and since I've run against GW Bush that's really saying something.

It is no wonder John McCain called Mitt Romney the most disgusting excuse of a  politician he had ever seen.    No matter who is reading this, No matter which party you support, No matter if you aren't in to politics at all, No matter any-all-and everything.    At some point Mitt Romney has agreed with you if only for a day or two.   If you have ever attended a Mitt Romney speech then for a few magical moments you were listening to someone that for that instant agreed with your every thought and supported your every desire.   Mitt Romney is a solid gold phoney and a master of pandering.

Many years ago before instant news and cable 24 hour news coverage Mitt would have been KING.   Sadly you can no longer fly between cities and give speeches that flip flop your support on the issues.    Today you have trouble getting away with the outright lie and must take and defend stands in an open and honest manner.    Mitt could have been a contender 75 years ago but today he is a phoney and a loser.   Are the Republicans excited?    Even Republicans have a BS Limit on what they will accept from their candidate.    Though the limit is limbo party low it is still head and shoulders above Mitt Romney.

Rick Santorum Drops Out of the Presidential Race

Rick is young.    He can follow in Ron Paul's footsteps and run for President every 4 years until he is in his 70.     Considering Mitt's money he may run in the republican primary in 2016.   Rick maintains that if Newt had shown the good sense to drop out months ago he could have defeated Romney and saved the party from the butt whipping that waits just down the road.

Newt Gingrich is hanging in there to help keep his image alive for the purpose of paid speeches and DVD's and Books he and his newest wife are hawking.   It's a tradition for Ron Paul to run and use the travel as a free vacation.   Ron Paul has never held any honest expectation of being a winner.    All the other temporary front runners that came and went in short order while promoting Books and TV shows are all yesterdays news.   The GOP has settled for Mitt.    No other primary (by either party) has ever been such a clown show as was the Republican Primary this time around.   The Democrats have had one or two zany charcters running for short periods of time but never a circus like the Republicans produced in 2012.

Rick Santorum announced Tuesday that he is suspending his presidential campaign, all but bringing to a close the 2012 GOP presidential contest and effectively handing the nomination to Mitt Romney.

“We made a decision over the weekend that, while this presidential race for us is over — for me — and we will suspend our campaign effective today, we are not done fighting,” Santorum said at a campaign event in Gettysburg, Pa., the site of the historic and pivotal Civil War battle.

The former Pennsylvania senator had been Romney’s top opponent, but he suffered a trio of defeats last week in Wisconsin, Maryland and the District of Columbia, and over the weekend his daughter, Bella, was hospitalized for the second time this campaign due to complications from a rare genetic disorder.

In announcing his decision, Santorum said Bella’s condition caused him to reconsider his campaign but that she “is a fighter and doing extraordinarily well.”

He did not endorse or urge the delegates that he has won to support another candidate, but spokesman Hogan Gidley told MSNBC that the Romney campaign has requested a meeting about an endorsement, which he said Santorum is “open” to.

Santorum is currently second in the delegate race, but he would have to win upwards of three-fourths of the remaining delegates in order to secure the nomination.

Instead, he seemed to be hoping that Romney would fall short of the delegate threshold and that he could snatch the nomination at the Republican National Convention in August.

Santorum called Romney before his announcement Tuesday to inform him of his decision to drop out, according to a Romney campaign official.

“This race was as improbable as any race you’ll ever see for president,” Santorum said.

Rick never stood a chance.    If he had dropped out months ago like anyone with good sense would have done I could have beaten Romney and been the next president.     The last time Santorum ran in his home state he was beaten to a pulb and finished 20 points behind.      Rick played the spoiler role and now the party is stuck with Mitt Romney.     Republicans can forget 2012.

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich and Texas Rep. Ron Paul remain in the campaign, but neither has shown the ability to be a consistent alternative to Romney.    Gingrich, in particular, has seen his campaign hit a rough patch of late.    Gingrich finished fourth in the last two major contests and revealed over the weekend that his campaign was $4.5 million in debt.    He will continue to try to raise money to pay his debts all the way to the convention.     Gingrich offered to drop out completely if Romney would pay off his debts.    No appears to have been Mitt's answer to Newt.

Santorum’s exit virtually assures that Romney will secure the Republican Party’s nomination, though he so far has secured only about 60 percent of the delegates that he needs.

The situation that no one has thought of is that everybody except Romney drops out and he still can't get enough delegates to secure the nomination.    Romney's problem has never been the 22 other republicans that ran in the primary.     His problem was always that the people did not like, trust or want him and that is still his problem.     The dogs won't eat the dog food.

Some will sit the election out while others will hold their noses and try to vote republican.     Many republicans feel it is best to give Obama 4 more years and field a decent candidate in 2016.     A great many politicians feel endorseing Romney will hurt their futures in the party.     Voting for a candidate you dislike simply because there is an R after the name is more than some can bring themselves to do.     It is a bridge too far.    Only the really old and partisan can vote for anything republican.

In a statement, Romney congratulated his opponent.

“Sen. Santorum is an able and worthy competitor, and I congratulate him on the campaign he ran,”  Romney said.    “He has proven himself to be an important voice in our party and in the nation.    We both recognize that what is most important is putting the failures of the last three years behind us and setting America back on the path to prosperity.”

Republican leaders in recent weeks have been slowly coalescing around Romney, calling for an end to an increasingly arduous campaign that some say threatens the party’s chances in November.
That trend continued Tuesday, with Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad endorsing Romney shortly before Santorum’s announcement and Florida Gov. Rick Scott endorsing Romney shortly afterward.

(Scott’s endorsement may not help Romney — he’s quite unpopular as governor of a key swing state — but today is a good day for that endorsement to get lost in the news.)

“Mitt Romney will be our party’s nominee and it is critical that all Republicans coalesce behind Gov. Romney and focus on electing him as president so he can put the policies in place to create jobs, turn our economy around and get federal spending under control,” Scott said in a statement.

A new Washington Post/ABC News poll this week showed a majority of Republican-leaning Americans — 52 percent — said Santorum should stay in the campaign, while 43 percent said he should drop out.    64% said Romney was a problem even if there was no one else running against him.     31% of those surveyed said they considered Romney qualified to be President.     71% thought Romney should close his Cayman Island Investment Accounts and cancell his Swiss Bank Account since no other President or person running for President has ever been involved in such a mess and embarrisment to the party.      74% agreed that a 14% tax bracket for a multi-millionaire was nothing less than a scandal and that Congress should take action to ensure tax fairness for all Americans.

By suspending his campaign rather than ending it, Santorum can continue to raise money to retire any remaining debt he might have.
In the end, Santorum won contests in 11 states, but all of his primary victories were relegated to the South, and he failed to win any of a string of primaries in the Midwest in recent weeks.

Many Ron Paul supporters are broken hearted that drugs and prostitution continue to be illegal.     Decriminalizing these issues has always been a big part of a Ron Paul campaign.    Texans sent him to congress for the last 22 years hoping to get a piece of the Ron Paul magic and a roll back on the civel rights legislation.

Ron Paul never for a second considered himself as having the slightest chance of winning and time has proved him astute and correct.     The only money he ever needed was for a plane ticket (coach) to the next town he was giving a speech in.     Many nights he slept on the sofas of supporters and ate at fast food outlets.     For anyone wishing to return to the 1950's and live that life style Ron Paul's latest loss must be a terrible burden to shoulder.     In all likelyhood this is Ron's last run as he is retiring but all is not lost.     Ron's son Rand is the old man's equell in every way and he may pick up the torch.     The fruit didn't fall too far from the tree.

Romney can appoint Santorum Secretary of Education.    Santorum then can shut down the colleges that do nothing but manufacture elitists, and compel home schooling of younger children.   Then, all of the empty school buildings can be turned into crisis pregnancy centers.    I think the Republicans have a plan to rebuild the Arc and replant the Garden of Eden.

The Republican Party is Dead; Only the Name Survives

People are talking about how the Republicans might do in the elections this November.    I say they can't win because the Republican party no longer exists.    Those who claim to be the Republicans aren't.    The party is dead.    Only the name survives.

This is not the party of Abraham Lincoln.    Ronald Reagan was far to liberal for today's Republicans.    What's left of what the Republicans were is the Ku Klux Klan wing, neocons like Dick Cheney, and those who are against the kind of people who think and are proud of it.

We are against class warfare and for tax breaks.    No one should be allowed to vote without proper identification and we oppose the health care act.     Learn to speak english or get out of the country.

The party is owned by corporate puppets that apologize to British Petroleum.  The party is led by Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin.    Republicans are only concerned about the deficit when they are out of power and spend like mad when they are in power.

Republicans need to take responsibility.    They need to stand for something more than empty slogans.      There are no ideas there anymore.     It's all about their own self interest.     So Republicans cannot possibly win because Republicans no longer exist.

The GOP is going down in flames, and they're trying to pass as many anti-woman, anti-children and "I GOT MINE" bills as their demented minds can dream up.      The days of old white men controlling U.S. Politics is going the way of the candle maker and the blacksmith.

Once the Republican Party has been dead for 10 years or so the local republican voters will realize the party is gone.   Maby they will hear it on TV or a child will return from vacation and tell them.   As long a Fox News denies the death of the republican party no real republican will believe it.

Demographic Trends in the Republican Party

Age Range            Percent
 18-27                      6%
 28-37                     14%
 38-47                     15%
 48-57                     24%
 58+                       37%

To start, the obvious conclusion from the breakdown of ages is that most Republican voters are quite old.    The party will probably lose over a third of its members to old age in the next 20 years and has only tiny base of younger voters to replace them.

The Republican Party is not a party of the young.    More than two thirds of those polled were over 48 years old and only 20% were in the bottom two age brackets.    This raises the question of what kind of a future a party has whose membership averages close to retirement age with very few new members becoming involved at or near college age.     There's not much time left for those who currently lead the party.     Membership is already shrinking and the trend suggested in these polls is one which would leave the Republican party as a much smaller minority party in less than a generation.

With this in mind it is easy to see why Republicans are pushing so hard to restrict the old, poor and minority voters from getting their rights at the poll.   These groups vote Democratic by large margins.

The Republican Party is not nearly as socially conservative as generally believed.     The support for "Family Values" and even "Right to Life" issues is relatively small across the board.     This suggests that for the younger generation of Republicans social issues are an absolute non-priority, or at best issues of convenience which they don't prioritize significantly.

This is further born out by candidate polling.    In recent polls older voters go much more heavily for socially conservative candidates like Rick Perry and Herman Cain, while younger voters are attracted to the more socially moderate or socially neutral candidates like Ron Paul and Gary Johnson.

In the older age group support for social conservatives is three times support for social moderates, while in the younger group the support splits almost 50-50.    Given that some social moderates are also among the most fiscally conservative candidates this bears out the trend towards much less interest in socially conservative views among younger Republican voters.

It is inevitable that the socially conservative 23% of the oldest population group will die off and do so fairly quickly.    They will almost all be gone within two decades.    In addition to reducing the total membership of the party by as much as a third, they will also leave behind a party with very little interest in social conservatism.

You can draw your own conclusions from this, but at the very least it means that prioritizing social issues is a big mistake in the long term as it turns away younger voters and panders to a vocal minority which won't be around for long.

Bottom line, the republican party must modernize or die.   Old white men are on the way out and the young don't share their ultra conservative social agendas.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley calls Obama "Stupid" on Twitter

Senator and Iowa Corn God Chuckles Grassley.     Elected by the people, serves the exclusive needs of the insurance companies.     Chuck has a corn cob hidden on his person, guess where.

Iowa is a small, insignificant state that gets paid for not growing corn and gets fed free pancakes every 4 years by republicans seeking to win their parties presidental primary.    This will clarify what and where Senator Grassley hails from and may explain his command of the english language as well as his typing style.

After Senator Chuck Grassley sent an almost unintelligable tweet attacking President Obama and calling him stupid David Axelrod sent Grassley the following message.

"Heads up, Sen. Grassley,"  "I think a 6-year-old hijacked your account and is sending out foolish Tweets just to embarrass you!"

Read or attempt to read Grassley's original tweet and decide for yourself who is stupid.

"Constituents askd why i am not outraged at PresO attack on supreme court independence,”   “Bcause Am ppl r not stupid as this x prof of con law."

Grassley is a fully owned and controlled tool of the insurance industry and an embarrisment to the people of Iowa.   This is by no means Grassley's first journey down the path of stupidity.   Sen. Grassley reffered to Newt Gingrich as a  "Constitutional Scholar" with a straight face.

Grassley is living proof that Lincoln was right when he said keep your mouth shut and people may think you're a fool.   Open your mouth and remove all doubt.   Chuckles it's better to keep your mouth shut.

President Obama should remember this.   If an idiot is giving you a hard time, you must be doing something right.    Joe Walsh and the moron who yelled you lie-in the state of the union address and now Chuckles Grassley.   Looks like the President is fireing on all cylinders.   Keep up the good work Mr. President.

I am tempted to tell the story of how a 15 year old Chuck Grassley was injured in a freak expermental accident involving an automatic milking machine but if I did I would have to folow it up with how he was reinjured in the same manner by the same sort of machine years later at 23.   These types of stories and interludes with
farm animals appear to be part of small town Iowa life best left untold.

Grassley may be a genius.   It appears he has hooked  up a Speak And Spell to the Internet.

Senator Grassley has an unusual form of Alzheimer's that causes the patient to communicate more and more like a 11-year-old
girl.

A great statesman shall always be known by his tweets.   Grassley spent his childhood riding the really small school bus.

Welcome to America, Chuck Grassley.    Please learn English or get out of the country.

There once was a Senator named Grassley,
He sent out a tweet; it was ghastly.
Now you do the next two lines.

Remember  Tweeting  Knocks about 40 points off your IQ.     If you're a republican you don't have but a point or two to play with.
