2013 was a remarkable year with the democrats capturing all the statewide offices in the state of Virginia. If you can remember back to 1964 and the LBJ presidency then you recall the last time it happened.
Congrats to all our members who worked so hard to make it happen. A special shout out to the members of the Wright Shop Democrats. The entire Democratic ticket finished with the winning share of the votes in this precinct.
The 2nd Thursday of every month at 7 pm was selected as the meeting day for all Amherst County Democratic Committee Meetings. The location for the meetings is still being researched and will be announced later.
Our senior senator Mark Warner is running for re-election and Bruce Elder is ramping up to challenge Bob Goodlatte for the 6th District Congressional seat. Big happenings in 2014 and we need to be ready for the struggle.
Skipper Fitts will chair a committee that will plot a path for the Amherst Democrats to follow for the long term. Mr Fitts is especially good at plotting trends in the electorate and planning the future direction for the party.
Now that you know the general discussion that took place on this cold Jan. night the only thing left to do is enjoy the photos from the meeting and make a note to join us for the next get together.
Chairman Ned Kable likes the restraunt outings and is planning to hold more of them in the future. Good food and good people meeting to get things done.
Here's a youngster who was dining with his family next to the meeting. He represents all the children we fight for as we support education and health care and try to get the economy clicking again so the next generation can inherit a world as wonderful as the one our parents and grandparents left for us.
